...design, secretly commissioned by Kat's other half for her birthday and involving some of the trickiest 3D enamelling I've embarked upon to date. I mixed my own enamel colour to match robins' eggs as closely as I could. To say that this commission was an honour is a little like saying I quite like cake.
...customer - the Botanic Gardens, Cambridge. I'm completely thrilled to have taken a order from the gorgeous Botanic gardens shop, not least because this garden is one of our very favourite places to visit. In the coming weeks shall be busy making silver pods, seeds and, of course, a beehive necklace to match the ones in their beautiful mixed beds (see above. Eldest is scampering in the TR of the picture).
I'll also be teaching a workshop at the Botanic Gardens in March (keep a watch out on this page for more details). Excitingly we shall be using historically important plant material from the gardens to make fossil-like pieces. I'm off to source some smallish acorns from the Cambridge Oak in the next week or so. I hope we'll be able to make fine silver casts of them during the session. Very exciting.
...workshop venue. I've added an extra date to my pre-Christmas schedule. I'll be holding a beginner's silver clay workshop* at a truly beautiful house in NW London on Saturday 16th November. We'll be imprinting leaves and dried flowers, casting tiny vintage keys and buttons, using lace to create texture and making 3D silver seedpods. As ever there will be cake, which as we all know is essential fuel for crafting.
All these images are of pieces made by complete beginners at my recent workshops. It seems I have some competition. Oof.
